I am thrilled to announce that beginning July 1, Kohler Academy, a New Jersey DOE approved special education program located in Mountainside, NJ, will become part of Bancroft.
Bancroft is a premier provider of education and related programs and services for children and adults living with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities and medical complexities, operating three other schools in New Jersey.

Kohler Academy serves students with intellectual and physical challenges that prevent them from participating in a traditional school setting and offers a tailored education plan designed to meet each child where they are.
Our focus will remain on helping Kohler Academy students learn and build the social and emotional skills they need to live their best lives as they move through their school years and beyond. Kohler Academy includes a transition program for older children to explore their interests while building skills and planning for post graduation.
Building on its depth and range of work in special education, Bancroft will provide:
- Specialized teacher and staff training and professional development
- Resources and clinical expertise, especially behavior analysis through our ABA Center of Excellence
A Legacy of Care
The school will continue to build on its legacy as Kohler Academy, A Bancroft School, and the school’s excellent teachers and staff will remain as will the nurturing environment families have come to trust. Bancroft is acquiring Kohler Academy from the Arc of Union County.
